Catalunya 2026 Special Report by Tim Atkin and Fintan Kerr

A recognition that encourages us to continue the heritage

Yesterday we attended the presentation of the Catalunya 2026 Special Report, by the team of Tim Atkin MW and Fintan Kerr. This report, which analyzes the best of the Catalan wine scene, has placed our wines at the top of the quality rankings, reinforcing our commitment to Garnatxa and organic viticulture in the Terra Alta region.

An award for innovation rooted in tradition

One of the most special moments of this edition was the award given to our Trementinaire 2022, chosen as the Best Orange Wine of the Year. This wine is born from a look to the past, to the tradition of wines made with grape skins that our grandparents were already making. In a context where Catalonia has embraced "orange" wines with strenght, Fintan Kerr highlighted our "detailed and nuanced" approach to creating a wine that he defines as "evocative and truly special."

The value of perseverance

This year, the report has generously highlighted four of our wines —La Xalamera 2024, La Serra Blanc 2022, La Serra Negre 2023, and Trementinaire 2022 itself—among the highest-rated in their categories in Catalonia. We feel humbled and at the same time deeply honored to see our names alongside projects and colleagues we deeply admire.

A moment of optimism for Catalan wine

This year's report highlights a trend we wholeheartedly share: the pursuit of elegance, freshness, and transparency. According to Kerr, the sector is experiencing a moment of optimism and energy, with winemakers who, like us, are working to express the purity of their varieties and respect for the environment.

These accolades are an incentive to continue working our vineyards with the same passion as always.   • LA XALAMERA 2024 | 96 pts: A transparent expression of Garnacha with a wild streak, firm and spicy with herbal persistence, delivering both varietal clarity and a strong sense of place from Terra Alta. 2026-2034.

 

  • LA SERRA Blanc 2022 | 95 pts: One of the great Garnacha Blancas of the region, full-throttle yet controlled, intensely waxy and mouth-coating with orchard fruit at its core, lifted throughout by vibrant acidity and real tension. 2026-2036.

 

  • LA SERRA Negre 2023 | 95 pts: Shy on the nose at first but what a huge presence on the palate! Ripe blackberries, plums and warm earth with an undertow of granite. Savoury, driven and firm. Excellent! 2026-2040.

 

  • TREMENTINAIRE 2022 | 95 pts: A serious orange wine, packed with orange marmalade, dried apricot, pressed flowers and vanilla, aromatic and structured with a chalky tannin presence on the palate. 2026-2032.

 

  • LA PILOSA 2023 | 94 pts: Unmistakably Peluda in character, earthy red fruit, smoke, dried herbs and orange peel lead into a chalky, firm palate, lively acidity keeping the wine grounded and drinkable. 2026-2034.

 

  • BENUFET 2024 | 93 pts: Excellent value Garnacha Blanca, bright and herbal with sweet tarragon, lemon zest and ripe pear, juicy and mouth-watering; an awful lot of wine for the money. 2026-2030.

 

  • LA MUSARANYA 2024 | 93 pts: Broad, waxy and quietly persistent, lemon curd, ripe orchard fruit and soft pastry-dough notes define this white, classic in style with an endearing touch of bitterness on the finish. 2026-2030. 

 

  • L'ESTEL 2024 | 93 pts: There’s a surprisingly Syrah-led feel here, ripe plums and blackberries joined by black olive, pepper and warm earth, spicy and generous but easy to drink, the structure softening what could otherwise be a more forceful wine. 2026-2032. 

 

  • Herència Altés CUPATGE 2024 | 92 pts: A complete and carefully judged blend, Garnacha supported by Syrah for roundness and Carinyena for lift, chalky and fresh on the palate, juicy and balanced, delivering far more seriousness than its approachable frame suggests. 2026-2030. 

 

  • LO GRAU DE L'INQUISIDOR 2023 | 92 pts: Powerful Syrah, ripe and slightly dried dark fruit layered with black pepper, olive and dried herbs, full-bodied and muscular yet balanced by freshness. 2026-2032. 

 

  • Herència Altés GARNATXA BLANCA 2024 | 91 pts: Direct and straightforward Garnacha Blanca, ripe pear and melon accented by chamomile, softly waxy in texture and cleanly finished, designed for uncomplicated pleasure. 2026-2028.
