New Wine Advocate scores for Herència Altés wines

We share the latest review by Luis Gutiérrez for The Wine Advocate, highlighting the purity of our Garnachas and the excellent value for money across the new range.

2024 La Xalamera – 93 Points. This single-vineyard Garnacha, from 45-year-old vines, shows a clean and mature varietal profile with notes of macerated berries, earth, spices, and flowers. It fermented with semi-carbonic maceration and spent six months in oak foudres followed by six months in amphorae. With 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.4, and 5.3g of acidity, it is a fine and elegant wine. Production of only 800 bottles.

2024 La Pilosa – 93 Points. Crafted from Garnatxa Peluda (Downy Grenache) from a vineyard planted in 1984 at 550 meters altitude. It presents a profile with personality, halfway between a Garnatxa and a Carinyena, with earthy notes and marked tannins. Fermented in cement with partial whole-cluster and aged in Austrian oak foudres for 12 months. A fresh wine with a pH of 3.4. Production: 11,600 bottles.

2025 La Borrassona – 93 Points. A pale-colored red that is an explosion of wild fruit, flowers, and herbs; fresh, captivating, and full of nuances. Sourced from three similar plots of 40 to 60-year-old vines on silt and limestone soils. Fermented with 30% whole clusters in cement and aged for five months in 2,500-liter Austrian foudres. A medium-bodied wine with very fine tannins and great balance. "A real bargain."

2025 La Musaranya – 93 Points. A vivacious Garnatxa Blanca from three old-vine plots. Fermented and aged in cement to achieve micro-oxygenation and depth while maintaining purity. It shows floral, perfumed, and elegant notes. With 13% alcohol and a pH of 3.2, it is an accessible and fresh medium-bodied wine. Production: 9,000 bottles.

2025 Benufet – 92+ Points. Garnatxa Blanca from old vines at 450 meters altitude. It had skin contact, and the free-run juice fermented in cement with indigenous yeasts, followed by four months of aging on its lees with regular bâtonnage. Clean nose of waxy apple, bay leaf, and white flowers. A harmonious wine with more depth and nuances. Production: 20,000 bottles.

2023 La Serra Blanc – 92 Points. Produced from grapes from a vineyard planted in 1918. Whole-cluster pressed and fermented in 225-liter barrels and cement tanks for five months with bâtonnage. It offers a sense of maturity and superior concentration, with a pH of 3.2 and 5.5g of acidity. A tender and subtle wine. Production: 1,000 bottles.

2025 Llunari – 92 Points. An orange-bright skin-contact white with an expressive nose of yellow fruit, quince, and an earthy touch. A textbook example for the category. It has fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Includes 15% of 2023 wine aged in old barrels. Production: 13,000 bottles.

2025 Garnatxa Blanca – 92 Points. Balsamic and waxy, this Garnatxa Blanca is a textbook varietal example, clean and expressive. Sourced from different vineyards in Batea, it is versatile, fresh, and vibrant. Defined by the critic as "a bargain." Production: 120,000 bottles.

2025 Garnatxa Negra – 90+ Points. A varietal with primary aromas of berries and herbs, with hints of biscuit dough and a honeyed nuance. Medium-bodied, direct, and dry, with fine tannins and good balance. Aged in 5,000-liter Austrian foudres for four months. Production: 60,000 bottles.
