Territory Experience – Wine and Clotxa
The journey begins with a relaxed stroll through our vineyards, located in a prime setting near Gandesa. During the walk, framed by the jagged skyline of the Els Ports de Beseit mountains and the iconic silhouette of Santa Bàrbara, you will discover the environmental project of Herència Altés firsthand.
You will learn about our commitment to organic farming and how our Grenache grapes have found their place in the world thanks to the perfect balance between our local winds: the Cerç and the Garbí. We will walk among dry stone walls —authentic "insect hotels" that preserve the natural balance of the vine— in a setting shaped by the history of the Iberians, the Romans, Modernism, the Spanish Civil War (Battle of the Ebro), and the art of Pablo Picasso.
A tribute to local cuisine: the Clotxa.
After uncovering the origin of our wines, the experience culminates with privileged views from the La Xalamera lookout (wine bar). With the horizon of Terra Alta stretching before us, we will enjoy a guided tasting of four of our most representative wines.
The harmony (pairing) is the region’s authentic treasure: the clotxa de pagès. The clotxa is the soul of our gastronomy: a traditional crusty loaf of bread, hollowed out and filled with roasted tomatoes, garlic, and onions (escalivated), accompanied in our recipe by smoked sardine and Identitat extra virgin olive oil from Horta de Sant Joan. It was the energy-packed breakfast that farmers took to the fields to work the land. Today, we celebrate it as a km0 gastronomic delight that pairs perfectly with the minerality of our wines.
