Herència Altés. The Team

Nùria Altés & Rafael De Haan

Having completed he studies in "Agrarian Exploitation" Núria's first job was as production and "quality control" assistant in Celler Batea, the largest winery in Terra Alta. Nuria´s unwavering enthusiasm for the wines and the region of Terra Alta soon saw her promoted to head of sales and she wasted no time establishing her products in numerous international markets. Núria co-founded Herència Altés in 2010 with her partner, Rafael De Haan. Ever passionate about her home country, Catalonia, you will often find Núria participating in cultural and political events up and down the land.

British born, Rafael studied history and Latin American Studies before joining the UK wine trade in 2000. Moving to Spain shortly afterwards he continued working with wines and founded the export company, Exportiberia in 2005. Having met Núria around the same time they launched their first brand from Terra Alta in 2005 and Herència Altés in 2010. A big sports fan, particularly running and cycling as well as watching rugby, when not working Rafael is often pounding the roads training for his next long distance race.

Claude Gros

Consulting Winemaker

Claude is a native of Languedoc-Roussillon and consults at several premium estates throughout France. Starting with the new 2014 vintage, Claude Gros will lend his expertise to the entire wine production at Herencia Altés. For Claude this represents a new project in the emerging region, Terra Alta, and a chance to work with old vine white garnacha as well the more widespread red variety: "I visited the La Serra vineyards with Rafael and saw the great potential of this "terroir" and these old vines, Heréncia Altés is a producer that values quality above all other things and I want to help them achieve this goal."
