Our vineyard “La Serra”, is located between the towns of Batea and Gandesa, in the region of Terra Alta. The vines are planted on a plateau between 420 and 480 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest in the whole appellation.
In a land of low rainfall, local winds are of great importance. The “Garbi” from the sea, is a humid wind which brings priceless freshness to the vineyards. The “Cerç” (Mestral) is a dry wind that fends off fungi and other diseases of the vineyard.
In the Sierra we have a total area of 21, 6 hectares. We can mostly find white garnatxa planted in 1954, as well as garnacha negra, some of it dating from the early twentieth century.
Carignan is also present, planted in the first half of the twentieth century as well as a little garnatxa gris.
The yields are very low, between 0.5 kg and 1 kg per vine, always maintained manually and organically, respecting the environment, avoiding the use of pesticides and herbicides.
Soils are mostly of "pañal", limestone and sandy clay, poor in organic matter.
